Great pc at low cost
Replaced an old emachine, yep walmart special with this. The old pc had a hard drive that sounded like a jet engine trying to start up, very low ram memory did not help. have not heard the hard drive with the 8gb of ram this thing has. fast for what we use it for. added a samsung 23 inch HD monitor and life is great on line again.

HP Pavilion P6130F Desktop 8GB
We purchased two HP computers both the same, Pavilion P6130F 8 GB, and really like both of them. They are fast and they seem to do everything that we want them to do. Great buy.

Excellent PC for the price
Recently bought a HP P6130F to replace a 5 year old Compac. It has what I was looking for: HP computer, Quad Core processor, 8GB RAM, and a Nvidia graphics card. All for under $600. It has a very quite operation. I have been shopping for a while and I thought that for this price range, I would have to stick with an Intel graphics chipset. Saw it in the HP website and bought from Amazon.

Very, Very Good.
This is a very good system for the price. It is super-quiet. Vista 64 bit runs beautifully and has NEVER crashed. May be Vista had issues before but a patched-up Vista is great.
I bought this system to consolidate two physical machines into one and have no regrets: Both these machines run adequately fast, with one (Windows Server 2003) running as a virtual machine on the host Vista system using Microsoft Virtual PC. In fact, I can also run an XP Pro at the same time as the other 2 Operating Systems (Vista and Win 2003) and I am still able to use all these 3 systems just fine. This was such a pleasant surprise but then this is my first 8 GB system and the first with a Quad-core processor.
I don't use my machines for gaming but I can tell that this machine handles transfer and 'analysis' of HD videos from my Sony Camcorder much faster than my Dual Core 3 GB Vista 32 HP laptop did.
A couple of minor gripes: Only 6 USB Ports. But you can add a USB hub for that. No PCI slot available: There are PCI express slots but for legacy hardware you are out of luck. If there was even one PCI slot then I would have combined yet another machine (which runs some applications on PCI hardware) into this HP machine as another virtual machine.
Finally, virtualization of operating system is a great convenience and Microsoft's free Virtual PC is a good, simple tool for that. I can tell you that virtualization will save you quite a bit on your electricity bill if you have multiple machines in the house for your specific needs. Imagine 4 desktops running round the clock on 100-140 watts each combined into one machine?
Buy this one! Amazon's price with free shipping is the cheapest. HP sells for about the same price directly but they will charge you taxes!

Very solid for a Linux system
Though it wasn't exactly easy to verify this beforehand, this system is well-supported by Ubuntu 9.04. All the hardware works out of the box, and the Nvidia GPU supports acceleration through Nvidia's proprietary drivers.
There seems to be a lot of debate among reviewers, however, noting that this system is largely filled with year-old technology and noting that there are Intel-based competitors that perform better on benchmarks. I would argue this depends what you're doing with it however. Personally I wanted:
1. A Quad Core CPU
2. 8 GB or more of RAM
3. an Nvidia based graphics solution
And the fact that you can get all that for this cheap is nothing short of remarkable. It might not be bleeding edge on everything but when it comes time to compile something it sure feels like it.
