Product Description

MSI AE1900 AIO TOUCH N230 WHIT

Add a sleek touch of style to your desktop with the elegant and powerful MSI Wind Top AE1900-01SUS all-in-one desktop PC. You'll help reduce your desk of non-essential clutter while also enjoying its brightly colorful 18.5-inch widescreen--perfect for watching high-definition movies as well as moving between a large assortment of open windows and applications. But more than just a beautiful screen, the touchscreen-enabled Wind Top AE1900's display allows you to simply touch the screen to access all PC functions. The Wind Top AE1900 also has a transparent frame design that adds a designer touch to your office or living room.

The Wind Top AE1900's elegant white color and glassy frame make it a great choice for both office and living room (see larger image).
It's powered by the next-generation 1.6 GHz Intel Atom 230 processor, which includes innovative hafnium-infused circuitry that reduces electrical current leakage in transistors to conserve energy. A power miser, the Wind Top AE1900 needs only 45 watts of power while in full operation (results may vary under conditions and settings), which saves up to 80 percent of power compared to traditional PC--providing the perfect balance between efficiency and power usage (and meeting the highest qualifications, like Energy Star 5.0). The Wind Top AE1900 is also nicely quiet, thanks to the latest cooling technology to control the noise level no more than 26 decibels, which is as quiet as a library.

The AE1900-01SUS Wind Top PC is outfitted with a 160 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM (non-expandable), a DVD burner (with dual-layer support), 1.3-megapixel webcam with integrated microphone, 4-in-1 memory card reader, stereo speakers with SRS Premium Sound, and Microsoft Windows XP Home. It connects to your network either via ultra-fast Gigabit Ethernet or via Draft-N Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n). The Wind Top AE1900 also comes with a color-matched mouse and multimedia keyboard. It also comes with two MSI-exclusive games: MSI Chicken Shake and MSI Star Mission--both of which can be controlled by the motion of your face through the webcam.

Widescreen, High Definition Touchscreen
The MSI Wind Top AE1900's 18.5-inch screen (1366 x 768) has a 16:9 display ratio that adds 14 percent more viewing space compared to regular 16:10 screens and shows no black bars on the top and bottom of the screen--perfect for displaying HD images and high quality movies. With a 5-millisecond response time, the display is realistic and quick with no delays, so characters remain vivid. It also offers a 160-degree viewing angle, high 1000:1 contrast ratio and 250 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, which can display detailed and colorful images even with darker or more complicated pictures.

The touchscreen makes it easy to access all of your applications, which are sorted into four categories: Work, Fun, Tool, and Web.

The MSI Easy Viewer (above left) allows you to browse, enlarge, minimize and rotate, while the SoftStylus application (above right) enables onscreen handwriting.
In addition to its high definition resolution, the Wind Top AE1900 offers touchscreen functionality that's paired with a friendly, intuitive user interface--simply touch the screen to access all PC functions. The UI also sorts applications into four categories--Work, Fun, Tool, and Web--and you can browse all of the options via your fingertips across the screen and start programs by touching the graphic icons.

The Wind Top AE1900 also comes with two touch-optimized applications: MSI Easy Viewer and SoftStylus. The MSI Easy Viewer photo viewing software allows you to quickly browse, enlarge, minimize and rotate all of your pictures, while the SoftStylus offers easy touchscreen input via natural handwriting or a touch-enabled softkeyboard (and it supports 18 languages).

The screen is paired with two sets of 3-watt stereo speakers and the SRS Premium Sound suite of audio technologies, which provides immersive surround sound from just two speakers (or a pair of headphones), deep, rich bass, and an intuitive user interface with a variety of presets.

Power-Sipping Processor
The Intel Atom 230 processor uses a brand new 45nm (nanometer) design structure that provides a 1.6 GHz CPU speed with a 533 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 512 KB L2 cache--which uses just 4 watts of power. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.) It supports Intel's EM64T 64-bit computing architecture, which can allow the use of extended virtual and physical memory with compatible 64-bit software, as well as Intel's Hyper-Threading technology for speedier multitasking.

More Features

  • 160 GB hard drive (7200 RPM)

Light Duty
This is a light duty computer, stick to email, browsing and you will be fine. For the price I think it's a great machine, if you need more power step up to the AE2200 for not that much more.
Start watching Flash video, or even full screen Skype calls and it will struggle. I put mine inthe kitchen for Hulu and recipes, and it's perfect.
The setup process takes way too long, and Vista is a dog on this Atom processor. I installed a clean copy of Windows 7, and it works much better. You will need to download or install from the CD the touch screen drivers if you go the Win7 route. I suggest WinXP or Win7 on a computer with specs like this.
No VESA mount so you can't install a wall mount without some customization.

GREAT all in one computer, but...
I found one problem and one problem only with this computer, it comes pre-loaded with Windows Vista. I have read reviews on the fact that this computer doesn't have a speedy enough processor so I tried it out with Vista...after turning it on I had to wait 1hour to finally tinker with the thing. Boy, Microsoft, with an install this long you have really outdone yourself. Once I finally got Windows to install and work I figured I'd make a Windows startup disk(yes you heard me right, you pay all this money for a machine and Microsoft expects you to make the startup disk). So I click the link on the desktop that Vista has kindly placed there for me and I put the DVD in the drive and then...bam...Windows has encountered a fatal error. Well after 3 times trying this unsuccessfully and the computer slowing to a crawl at this point, I decided it was time to install Ubuntu. Thank god for such a wonderful, free creation. Most parts of this computer worked straight out of the box, has zero problem with wifi, the dvd drive and various other basic items this computer has. I did find the display had to be tweaked a bit to get it to look better, and the touch screen was acting a bit funny, but other than two minor problems, this computer works FAST. Burning discs works without a hitch and running various programs works no problem now. So in summary, this is a great computer if you are looking for an all in one. The price is right and the hardware it has is impressive. I would strongly recommend scrapping vista at your earliest convenience, however.

Screen doesn't appear to work at all, black.
Just got this today and quickly unboxed it as I wanted to see it in action. Picked it up as a second machine to test html in Windows browsers. Unfortunately the screen on mine seems to be a lemon. Machine powers up but I never see anything on the screen. Was hesitant to buy this instead of a laptop but now I think since I'll have to send this back anyway I'm going to look into something else.

Pretty sure this is a problem with the machine and not user error but could be wrong as the documentation is pretty sparse.

I am packing it up tonight to ship back tomorrow so if anybody knows of a solution to my problem let me know.

Giving it three stars because based on other reviews it seems to be an okay machine. I seem to have just gotten a rotten one, which could happen to any manufacturer so I don't hold it against them. Well I guess I do since I plan to replace it with something else.

Great Extra computer for the family
I purchased the AE1900-05SUS and after about 2 hours it was up and running, I'm impressed with the speed it not only looks cool but this All in one is great if you need the space, I wanted a new toy to play with in the Den and this computer is fun, the touch screen is fun to play with. The DVD-RW drive is great. The Keyboard and mice are OK and do work great, Overall I think this computer for the price is a 9. I was surprised the screen size is bigger than I expected.

Great all in one
I received this computer and I really like everything about it.. the looks are above most computers, not to mention the options.. It loads everything fast, and the dvd player works with any dvds I play.. I had an Hp touchsmart and it would only play region one dvds.. We enjoy the ease of touchscreen, but the accessories work just as well. Mine is in my kitchen and takes up very little space.. It is in a bright white casing, with clear plastic around that.. Just looks awesome...All in all, you cant beat the price for an all in one computer with a touchscreen monitor..

Spec Check
  • 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor
  • 750 GB hard drive
  • 8 GB RAM (8 GB maximum)
  • Dual-layer LightScribe DVD±R drive
  • Quad-mode Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n)
  • Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS graphics (up to 2558 MB total)
  • Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit, SP1)

The Basics

  • Processor: With four execution cores, the 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8200 blows through processor-intensive tasks in demanding multitasking environments and makes the most of highly threaded applications. Part of Intel's "Penryn" line of 45nm processors, it features new hafnium-infused circuitry to reduce electrical current leakage in transistors and help this desktop run cooler. It also features Intel Trusted Execution Technology, which provides hardware-based mechanisms that help protect against software-based attacks and protects the confidentiality and integrity of data stored or created on the client PC.

Whether you're creating multimedia, annihilating your gaming enemies, or running compute-intensive applications at one time, new quad-core processing will change the way you do everything. The Q8200 has a top-of-the-line 1333 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and a 4 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)

You get four dedicated, physical threads help operating systems and applications deliver additional performance that enhance multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance across many types of applications and work loads. The Smart Memory Access feature improves system performance by hiding memory latency, thus optimizing the use of available computer data bandwidth to provide data to the processor when and where it is needed. The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature effectively doubles the execution speed for instructions used widely in multimedia and graphics applications. And with the Intel 64 Architecture, the processor can access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel 64 Architecture can allow the use of extended virtual and physical memory.

  • Hard Drive: The ginormous 750 GB Serial ATA hard drive (7200 RPM) provides more than enough capacity for storing a large audio and video library, as well as extra space required for video editing. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to Firewire and USB 2.0.

This desktop also includes a drive bay that fits an optional HP Pocket Media Drive, which enables you to add up to 160 GB of additional storage. The Pocket Media Drive also works with any USB-enabled PC, for easy transferring of multimedia files from other computers in your home.

  • Memory: The 8 GB of installed RAM (PC6400) helps boost the amount of available video RAM that's shared with this notebook's video card. It also offers a fast 800 MHz speed. The 8 GB of RAM maximizes this desktop's capacity.
  • DVD/CD Drive: This multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 12x DVD±R DL Write Once, 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 12x DVD-RAM, 40x CD-R, 32x CD-RW write speeds and 40x CD-ROM, and 16x DVD-ROM read speeds.

This LightScribe DVD±RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art.

  • Keyboard & Mouse: It comes with an HP multimedia keyboard and scroller mouse (both with PS/2 connections).
Video & Audio
Video is powered by the Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS graphics/video card, which provides 512 MB of dedicated video RAM and offers up to 2558 MB of total available graphics memory as allocated by Windows Vista. Enabled by PureVideo HD, movies come to life with outstanding picture clarity, ultra-smooth video and vivid color. The lifelike images have up to six times the detail of standard DVD movies. Delivering state-of-the-art graphics performance, The GeForce 9500 GS graphics card is sure to give you the power and performance you crave to play the hottest DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 titles. Its 16x full-screen antialiasing technology delivers superior quality along with astounding performance and since it's optimized for Windows Vista.

The video card includes VGA and DVI video out as well as HDMI audio/video out options. This PC also offers an integrated audio card that can produce high definition surround sound configurable to 8 speakers.

Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
This desktop can be wirelessly networked with the integrated Draft-N Wi-Fi LAN (802.11b/g/n). Based on the draft 802.11n Wi-Fi specification, it offers up to five times the performance and twice the wireless range as existing 802.11g wireless. Stan Tomberg ( Hendersonville, NC )
No support
On 1/01/09 I called customer service (that is what they call it). I told the tech my internal lightscribe drive would not burn label's. I am not a not a novice and I went through all the steps - uninstalling the drive and reinstalling the drive, etc. I told the the tech that my external lightscribe drive was working fine so it had to be the drive. He had me duplicate all the steps I Had already done and after 1:05 he said he would send me a new drive it was under warranty got my credit card info and he put me on hold. After 10 minutes (1:15 total time) I hung up.

I called back after I cooled down and got a tech who saw what was done, bur insisted to let him take over my PC. He assured me it take only 20 minutes and I agreed. An hour and 35 minutes later I told him just take of ordering the drive (it seems the first tech did not it. Hr agreed and then after being on hold for 5 minutes he told me the system was down and I would have to call back on 11/2/09.

Both techs had bad attitudes and treated me like a dummy. I wasted two hours and 40 minutes of being insulted and talked down to!

Price can not overcome lack of service

Great powerful HP desktop
I just replaced my 8 year old Pentium 4 desktop with the HP Elite m9550f. I'm blown away, it's super fast, the fan is so noiseless, you hardly know it's running! I purchased it along with an HP 21.5" 1080p HD monitor with HDMI input. The monitor is the best I've ever seen. Only a Sony might beat it for over all quality and performance. My new HP computer is also expandable and not proprietary like with a Dell and others out there. I added an extra drive myself, so I got to take a look inside. I was very impressed with the quality of the components HP uses in their computers! Which is very important, since their's a lot of cheap junk out their. They used a Pegatron Corp. motherboard (formerly ASUS, which split it's company into 3 seperate divisions last year)! If anyone knows anything about motherboards it's the next most important part of your computer next to the processor chip itself! Pegatron Corp. boards are an industry leader, making boards that even out perform Intel and AMD which make the processor chips for the board. Only high-end PC makers use Pegatron Corp. motherboards. HP also used a 1 TB Seagate Berracuda hard-drive, again the indusrty leader for qualty and reliability! The hard-drive is virtually silent! It has way more capacity than anyone would ever need, I would well imagine! The HP DVD/CD burners are made by Philips/Lite-On, again one of the leaders, only Plextor is better in performance! The memory chips are made by Samsung. The soundcard is by Realtek, only Creative sound blaster and Turtle Beach are better! They also used a fairly high-end ATI Radeon graphics card, which is impressive. Everyone has their preference on graphics cards, but there's basically very little difference between Nvidia and ATI graphics chips! The power supply is by Delta Electronics and has plenty of available power. The build quilty of the mid-tower case is great! It's very well constructed and sturdy! It has all metal sides and rear, the front plastic bezel is strong and well made, plus very stylish and high-tech looking! All-in-all this is a great computer, although it's fairly expensive, but then you sometimes get what you pay for! I thought they should have included a Blu-ray drive for the price, but I can always add one later, it's already to go, with a compatiable graphics card! If you buy this PC, I'm sure you'll be satisfied!

I made a mistake
The computer came, but you shipped an m9510f instead of the M9510F. I wish I had kept it and found some way to install a modem in it. Not too happy with the Gateway I got instead just because it had a modem.

hard drive gone in 7 months
I bought this item in January and the Hard Drive just konked out last week .. i dunno what to do, got a lot of important files on there. I thought this was going to be a trouble free experience since my other pc was giving me problems. Got warranty on this item ??????????

Dual Monitor Display Issues
The machine works well, and enough people have reviewed it that I will focus on a particular video display problem that you are likely to encounter with this, and perhaps other HP Media PCs. If you try to play DVDs and Blurays onto a second, shared LCD monitor (typically this would be your lcd tv) connected via the HDMI port, you will have a good chance of your display being totally corrupted on that display. It will play fine on your primary DVI connected monitor, but when you try and view it instead on the second, HDMI connected one it will likely be just a field of static. This may not happen the first time you try this, but as soon as you run say Windows Media Player, your codecs will update automatically and you will be unable to view it.

HP technical support was completely useless in debugging this problem, don't bother with them. The problem that causes this, as far as I can ascertain, is the inability of Vista, the bluray player, the drivers and codecs all properly communicating with each other the various security/copywrite permissions that need to happen in order to play video on a dual monitor set up.

The only solution I have found that works, and believe me, I tried many, is to install Slysoft's Anydvd (HD version). This program strips out the different protection schemes from the videos and allows them to play correctly on dual monitor home theater setups with a computer monitor and an HDMI connected tv. I hope HP and the rest of the industry figure this out and standardize HTPC protocols so the consumer doesn't have to deal with these ridiculous issues.

This RAM did not work
To be honest, I don't know if the guy I purchased it from sold me a bootleg of PNY RAM or it is a genuine defective product. Assuming it's genuine, it did not work. Although it is rated for 1GB of RAM, it only increased my RAM by 0.5GB! Furthermore the speed was so low that impcated and slowed down the rest of the installed RAM memory. Took it out and the computer speeded up again! I wouldn't recomment this product to anyone, unless of course you want your PC to slow down.

great memory for great price
PNY is quickly becoming a popular brand for me i haven't have a single problem with any of their products and the memory works great my computer actually recognized the full amount instead of the partial amount it recognized with the factory ram

Perfect
Added to my system which is PC-4200 @ 533MHz. Worked perfect first time, no issues. Backward compatibility is fine. So easy and such good price I've already had 2 of my friends order for their computers that also happen to be PC-4200. No issues with product. I would recommend, and for the price, why not? To buy PC-4200 is even more expensive.
